| Our Vision
Statement This Church accepts the Bible from
Genesis through Revelation as an all sufficient basis of doctrine and practice.
As a summary of principles for Christian conduct among its members, it adopts
the following church covenant commonly accepted by Baptist Churches.
|
 |
|
 |
Our Doctrine First Baptist Church of Bath is a
fellowship of believers united in our faith and worship of God, growing in
discipleship, striving to proclaim the Word of God in truth and love without
personal condemnation or prejudice, living out God's love and teaching in
evangelism and ministry, both locally and in mission support worldwide.
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of
God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of
our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly,
most solemnly and joyfully, enter into covenant with one another, as one body in
Christ.
|
| Our Covenant We engage there for, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to
walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in
knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to
sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines, to contribute
cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the
church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all
nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret
devotion; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our
kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; and to be just in
our dealings, faithful
|
in our engagements, exemplary
in our deportment; to avoid tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to
abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drink as a beverage; and to be
zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior. We further engage to watch over one another in
brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness
and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech;
to be slow to take offense, always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the
rules of our Savior, to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage, that when we remove from this
place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can
carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

| Our Missions: First Baptist Church of Bath supports the Southern
Baptist Convention and their Missionary efforts throughout America and the
world.
Through the
International Mission Board, Southern Baptists
support 4,946 missionaries in 153 different countries. Your gifts and
prayers resulted in 451,000 new believers baptized in 2000 outside of North
America. Southern Baptist's support of CP
Missions allowed the
North American Mission Board to send out 5,081
missionaries last year and help start over 1,700 new churches. Approximately
415,000 people were baptized last year as a result of individual Southern
Baptists becoming Partners in the Harvest.

Bath area Soup Kitchen
The Bath Area Food Bank operates it's Soup
Kitchen out of First Baptist Church's lower level kitchen and vestry. The Soup Kitchen serves on average 90-100 meals per
day. It is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00am to 12:00pm and
5:00-6:00pm. The volunteers who work there have been blessed with
a desire and ability to cook and serve those who are in need.
|
Local farmers donate fresh
vegetables during the summer months, which is truly a blessing. There are
also donations of breads from area markets. The workers could use more help
with the cooking if there is anyone who could spare an hour or more per
week. FMI, call the Bath Area Food Bank at: 443-7522
or visit their website A new commandment I give unto you,
That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
